My Thoughts:
Kristie Cook does it AGAIN! The Soul Saver series, beginning with Promise and also including Genesis, and Purpose has all been leading up to this....Devotion.

Tristan's back! Now we know I have a serious thing for Tristan, and Devotion gives my greedy self as much Tristan as I can handle. Yes, yes, Alexis is there too..... I think.  Kidding!

The couple is together again, having narrowly escaped a psycho vampire attack, and now the most important thing in their world is to figure out how to save their young son from going to the dark side aka the Daemoni. His parents' fervent hope is that given their unique circumstances, he will overcome the generational legacy, while the Amadis is still pressuring them for another child, and Alexis' Daemoni overlord of a sperm donor hovers around like the proverbial sword over their necks. There is ever a present aura of betrayal and danger...and no one can prepare from which direction it comes from.

There are so many twists and turns and plot OMG's, I was popping antacids like it was actually happening to me. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Kristie Cook is a master of suspense.  Most series would have gotten old hat and predictable by book three but Devotion keeps you guessing and wanting more. I hope Ms. Cook knows I will be pouting until book 4! Then for book 5.  And then for...well you get the picture.

I'd also like to note here that her writing is flawless. I don't know if she's got great editors or betas, or if she instinctively writes so well, but it's a joy to read her books and not get hung up on insignificant (yet always annoying!) typos or plot snags that don't jive with previously written material.

Summary:
With powerful abilities gained from the Ang’dora and Tristan back by her side, Alexis thinks she’s ready for the next challenge— protecting her son from what appears to be the inevitable. But she has so much to learn about her powers, her new world and the people in it. Nothing is what it seems to be on the surface, including the Amadis.

Power-hungry politicians comprise the council and make impossible demands. A traitor lurks among them all, inciting trouble that could destroy the Amadis and, ultimately, humanity. The Daemoni wreak havoc in the human world, with the ultimatum that they’ll continue attacking innocents until Alexis and Tristan are expelled from the Amadis’ protection. The couple’s own society begins to shut them out. But that’s not all.

Someone’s keeping a secret. A big one. Faith and hope in Alexis and Tristan will be restored if she can uncover the truth in time.

But the search for answers leads only to the discovery of more betrayals by those closest to Alexis. Her devotion is put to the test—devotion to her husband, to her family, to her people and to her beliefs—leaving her to question whom she’s fighting for and why she should even bother. But if she won’t fight . . . who will?
