My Thoughts:
I have followed Shayne McClendon's facebook page, Always the Good Girl, for a few years now and become addicted to not only the amazing pictures she finds and edits but especially to her writing. When she started talking about The Barter System, I hit her up immediately and begged for a copy to read and review. Shayne didn't hesitate, she sent it to me immediately. That was two summers ago. *hangs head* Yes, it has take me that long to get my review done and the blog tour promoting the book is what pushed me to do it because I wanted desperately to be part of the blog tour. So THANK YOU Shayne, for the book and to Mackable Book Babes for letting me be part of the blog tour.

Aside from having a bit of a fan-girly crush on Shayne, what drew me to The Barter System was the concept of the book. Riya plans to conduct research on male sexuality...by traveling across the nation and indulging in mini-relationships of sorts with eight different men. I was fascinated and curious to say the least. And for a girl like Riya, who is the farthest thing from a promiscuous and much closer to a "good girl", would she be able to keep up with her self-imposed guidelines? How would it change her? And most importantly, how could she NOT fall in love with each and every one of her subjects? I was a little apprehensive and beyond anxious to begin this book.

I am so excited to be participating in the Blog Tour for Shayne McClendon's "The Barter System". The Blog Tour starts today, December 13, and ends on December 17, 2013. As part of the tour (and to celebrate Shayne's birthday on the 17th), we are hosting two giveaways here on RLAD.

1. U.S. Only Giveaway: A Swag Pack including signed print copies of The Barter System, Damaged, and Not a Bride is being provided by Shayne. It's her birthday - but you get the gifts!! Enter HERE!

2. Non-U.S. Giveaway: Your choice from the same three books (The Barter System, Damaged, and Not a Bride) provided in the eBook format of your choice. Enter HERE!

The giveaways end on December 17th when I will announce the winners along with my blog tour post which will include my review of The Barter System, an interview with main character Riya O'Connell, and Shanye's TBS Playlist.

About The Barter System:
Riya O'Connell requests applications from men around the country willing to participate in the research she needs for her dissertation on Male Sexuality. She narrows down her thousands of submissions to eight men. In return, Riya will give them...whatever they want.

As her project progresses, Riya realizes she's chosen the eight men in the country who would love her well and that she could easily love in return. She leaves subject after subject with a small piece of her heart.

Ultimately, Riya discovers where she truly belongs...and gets an education she didn't plan on.

Book Review: My Demon Determined

Book Review: My Demon Determined

My Demon Determined (My Demon #2)
By Nikita Jakz and Alicia Dawn
Published By: Self
Page Count: 137 pages
Release Date: October 2013
Source: Purchased by Reviewer
Audience: Adult (not recommended for readers under 17)

My Review:

The second installment in the My Demon trilogy is out, and what a fun ride! Cole and Seraphina are now on the run from the angels  and are forced to take refuge in hell. Hiding from her family is one thing, having Sera exposed to evil on a consistent basis is another. She is strong, but is she strong enough to resist the pull of evil she will now be surrounded by on a daily basis. Besides that, Cole’s demon is stronger there. He tends to come out at inopportune times and Sera learns much about him, but is it more than she bargained for?

I love Sera’s innocence and her wonder in all things. I also enjoyed her learning to come into her own. Sera discovers a wealth of strength when she needs it the most in dealing with Cole’s demon and his demon finds her intriguing. In fact, he sees her as a challenge, but one he wants to possess. Sera had me laughing and grinning when she challenged Cole in his demon form and brought him to his knees. The sex between the two is hot. I had to fan myself several times when they have a meeting of the minds and bodies.

Excerpts

Aphrodisiac
Arms pinned above my head
His hard body molded perfectly against my soft curves
Heavy breathing along my skin ,goose bumps appear across my flesh
His husky voice coated with lust speaking my name
My legs part with ease for him

Hurricane
The day you walked into my life
You came in like hurricane
whisking me off my feet.
You caught my tears
wiping them off my cheeks
My heart slowly healed itself
You picked up the pieces
Putting it back together for me
I started to smile again

Souls Around the World Blog Hop

October...fall...candy corn and jack-o-lanterns, candy apples and popcorn balls, crisp leaves raked up in piles, pulling jackets out of the closet for the first time, these are just some of the things I think of when October rolls around. Of course, I also think of all the things that go bump in the night. I have always been a scared-y cat when it comes to horror. I could never read the oh-so-popular R.L. Stine's Goosebumps series growing up, and as an adult, you will not find me reading Stephen King. I've been known to leave a Halloween party when Freddy Kruger or Jason show up to play, and I still to this day refuse to sleep with closet doors open for fear that Chuckie will jump out and get me. Yes, I am the original scared-y cat.

That being said, I love, love, love the paranormal world. Vampires and weres, fae and witches, warlocks and demons, yes, yes, yes! When written brilliantly, these can be some of the sexiest beings in the world of fiction. That's right. I'm biased. I'm a paranormal romance/erotica whore. I admit it. But really, who can blame me? And the month of October is the best time to indulge in these fantasies, because this is when the line between the paranormal world and reality is most blurred. So take some time out this month for yourself, and indulge in your favorite fantasy!

For this Blog Hop, I am excited to join authors Ashley Nemer and L.S. Broomfield, along with a host of other authors and blogs, to bring you two amazing giveaways. Both giveaways are open to US, Canada, UK, NZ, Australia, Romania and South Africa residence. Winners will be selected on November 1st.

1. The first giveaway is the Grand Prize Giveaway - a Sony Touch eReader pre-loaded with ebooks that are sure to keep you up at night turning pages. Entering is easy - simply follow the Rafflecopter instructions below.

2. The second giveaway is from me here at Reading Lark After Dark. I've decided to do something a little different this time. Instead of giving away one of my favorite books like I normally do, I've decided to go with a book I haven't read yet by one of my favorite Paranormal Romance/Erotica authors - In the Company of Witches, by Joey W. Hill, and after reading the synopsis, I can't wait to read it myself! To enter, simply make sure that you are a RLAD follower and leave a comment on this post telling me if you are a new or a loyal follower and what your favorite thing is about this Blog Hop. Comments will be assigned numbers and chosen randomly using random.org.
