Friday Feature & Follow and Book Blogger Hop

Friday Feature & Follow is a blog hop that was started by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.  Each week a different question is posted by our hosts and we will answer!  This is a great opportunity for bloggers to network and interact. To participate, follow both of our hosts, as well as the two featured blogs, and make a post on your blog! Add your blog to the linky on one of the host blogs, and spend some time networking with the other participants.

This week’s question – What are your favorite genres in books?
I have always been an avid reader, from The Baby Sitters Club and Sweet Valley Twins/High to Linda Lewis's "Linda Stories", the romantic in me has been drawn to the love stories. I picked up my first adult romance, an historical romance by Kathleen Woodiwiss, "The Flame and the Flower" while I was babysitting one evening and that's when the real love affair with romance began. I still love any kind of romance. From YA books with a romantic theme (paranormal and dystopians are my favorite) to contemporary and paranormal romance all the way down the line to erotica, I love to get lost in a romantic fantasy world.

Topic of this weeks hop: Why did you start your blog?
I started Reading Lark, the YA/Clean Adult (PG) sister to Reading Lark After Dark, with my best friend Andrea, way back in 2010 because we wanted an outlet to share our love of reading with others. We had several blogger friends who helped us get started and we spent a lot of time building and developing the blog, and we had a blast doing it. The bigger  Reading Lark got, the harder it became for Andrea and I do do everything ourselves, especially since we are both teachers by day. So we enlisted the help of friends to join our blog/reviewing world. At first, Reading Lark was multi-genre, but after the first year, we noticed a need to keep the 18+ reviews separate from the PG reviews. That's when Reading Lark After Dark was born. Because that area is my specialty, and the PG realm is Andrea's specialty, it made since for me to take over Reading Lark After Dark. I took a 2 year break from blogging and have recently returned. My reason for returning is the same reason that I started blogging. I feel passionate about sharing the books and authors I love with others.

Book Blogger Hop: April 29 - May 5

Book Blogger Hop

This week's Question: "Do you read and review books mainly for publishers or authors?"

My Answer: When I first started blogging, most of my reviews were at the request of indie authors. However, now the majority of my reviews are for publishers.

This week’s question – What do you do with your books after you are done reading them?
I'm a book hoarder. I have a very hard time parting with my books, especially those that I love. If it's a book that I especially love, it goes on the book shelf beside my bed where my autographed copies and favorites are. The rest go on the bookshelf in the hallway. If I've read it on my Nook, it will get organized in my files according to genre. If I especially loved it, I will have to purchase a paper copy for my bedside bookshelf. Eventually books that I'm not particularly attached to will get donated to a local organization that does a fundraising book sale annually.

Topic of this weeks hop: How do you organize your books to be read?
Books that have been sent to me by authors and publishers for review go on a special shelf of my bedside bookshelf, either in the order I received them or in order of when my review is done. If it's an ebook, it goes on the home screen of my Nook until I've read it.
