My Review:
I loved that Gemma is not a young chick. I loved that she is learning to love herself again after the death of her husband. She is learning to find herself and she is sure the key to that is in Cash Big Crow’s capable hands. She has watched him for years and knows him as a capable cowboy who will be a welcome help on her struggling ranch. She knows he has left the circuit and offers him a job.

She wants him for so much more, but is willing to wait for him to figure it out. He’s one step ahead of her though and will take the job if she becomes his lover and surrenders to him completely. The only obstacle is his daughter, Macie, who is supposed to be traveling cross-country with him and getting to know him. If he takes the job, it puts their plans on hold, but she is willing to do that for her father.
Carter McKay, Gemma’s only help on the ranch and the son of the large McKay clan takes a shine to Macie. He goes out of his way to get to know her, annoy her and irritate her dad. In the end though, he is just what Macie needs. In a round about way, he helps her connect with her dad on a deeper level. The relationships that are built as the story progresses are great.

I love that James continues to let you know what happened with the couples from the previous books and how they are remain intertwined.  Makes me want to read the next book…..and the next…..and the next…. Oh, and the sex is hot, but for me, as a reader, the relationships are what keeps me coming back.

Synopsis:
Workin’ up a hot, sticky sweat is pure pleasure with a hard-ridin’ cowboy or two. Struggling stock contractor Gemma Jansen swallows her pride and tracks down circuit rider Cash Big Crow to offer him a job managing her ranch. Cash agrees on one condition: theirs won’t be strictly a working relationship. She’s the boss during the day, but once she’s corralled in the bedroom, Cash calls the shots. Despite concerns about their age difference, Gemma consents. Cash suspects the sexy widow hides an untapped wild streak. He intends to loosen her tightly held reins of control even if he has to break out his horsewhip to do it. But Cash is in for a surprise. Gemma proves a rough and ready participant in any leather-n-lace game Cash dreams up. Between riding herd on his wayward daughter, Macie, and rowdy cowboy, Carter McKay, doggin’ Macie’s every boot step, Cash struggles to hide his true feelings for Gemma except this time, Gemma’s grabbed the bull by the horns and she’s playing for keeps. Summer’s going to be a hot one at the Bar 9.
