Eve Manor is a pastry chef with a passion for chocolate and romance. During the annual masked Black & Lace ball, Eve has a plan. She created a signature chocolate dish that was sure to knock the socks off every famous chef and food critic attending the ball. Everything hinges on the night’s success.
Christian Grier is a man with a secret. In the foodie world, he's known as the Editor-in-Chief of the famous magazine, Sizzle. When his old college roommate, Josh, asks him to attend the ball his company is catering, Christian intended to turn him down. But when Josh reveals Eve's secret plan, he knew he needed to do everything he could to help. Will hiding behind his mask help in his quest to seduce Eve or will she decide he’s not what she wants after all?
Chocolate. Desserts. A hot, sexy hero. What more could a girl ask for? I picked up this book expecting a quick, easy read that would be purely for pleasure, and I was not disappointed. Because it's a short story, there is not a lot of build-up or lead-in to the action, which was exactly what I was looking for. I have to admit that I loved the desserts just as much as I loved the characters. I stayed hungry for rich, decadent desserts during this read. While it doesn't raise the roof with the steam factor, it's a light, sexy read for those don't have a lot of time to start something new, but want a little romance and a quick read.
From the Author:
I’m a chocoholic. 100% home grown and true ;) It’s why every single story I write has chocolate in it. Normally, I try to hide my addiction. I might casually mention it in a scene or two, but in The Mask, my true tendencies came out in full force. If you like foodie romance, this book is for you. If you are a lover of chocolate and romance, then this story will hit close to home. I promise.
Let me tempt you with a small piece from The Mask - Book 2 of the Masquerade Series.
“Take a bite my friend. The cream in the middle is enough to make a grown man weep. I swear God whispers the recipes of succulent desserts into our sweet Eve’s ear.” Josh closed his eyes as he took a bite of his own éclair.
“Tell me you wouldn’t fall at her feet and kiss those dainty toes after you eat that.”
Christian raised the pastry to his lips. A delicate aroma of cream swirled under his nose. He popped the éclair into his mouth and struggled to not groan. His nostrils flared as an explosion of chocolate whip cream with a hint of coffee liqueur filled his.
He glanced at Josh in surprise.
“I know. I told you,” Josh grinned.
Christian grabbed another éclair from the plate and popped it in his mouth. These were amazing. The pastry was light, melt-in-your-mouth perfection while the whipped cream tantalized the taste buds until the chocolate coating announced its presence.
I love eclairs, especially homemade ones dipped in chocolate. Tell me, what is your favorite type of decadent chocolate?

Once upon a time … is how the stories used to start.
Not anymore. Now they start with chocolate (and maybe a little bit of passion). At least in Anya’s world where passionate pleasures are explored … One Story at a Time!
