We'd like to welcome author, Alyssa Linn Palmer, to the Dark Nest today. Her novella, Prohibited Passion, is available now.
Andrea @ After Dark: How long have you been writing?
Alyssa: My first book was a picture book, written and illustrated, when I was seven. It was about
a witch.
Andrea @ After Dark: Can you describe your book in five words?
Alyssa: Tragic lesbian Prohibition love story.
Andrea @ After Dark: Where did you get the idea for this story?
Alyssa: The Prohibition idea came from a conversation with my great-aunt. The rest percolated
over several weeks, with lots of notes and research.
Andrea @ After Dark: Which character is your favorite to write?
Alyssa: It’s a toss up between CeeCee and Sheridan. My favourite parts to write were their
interactions.
Andrea @ After Dark: What was the road to publication like for you?
Alyssa: A rather unexpected one. The whole Bandit Creek Books series came together so
swiftly, with so many authors coming on board, that I knew I couldn’t say no.
Andrea @ After Dark: Why did you choose to write this genre?
Alyssa: Which genre in particular? I wrote a historical because I had a fancy for writing
something set during Prohibition. I wrote a lesbian love story because my original idea
of using an innocent young man and a flapper seemed a bit dull, and the gangster
Sheridan was brought in to spice things up. I write in genres I think will produce the
most fascinating character interactions.
Andrea @ After Dark: What is your favorite bird?
Alyssa: The cardinal. I like the look of it. However, I have never seen one, as I don’t live within
its range.
Loved the 5-word description. Great book. I highly recommend it.
