My Book Boyfriend: Christian Grey

We decided that Thursday needed a little pzazz and stumbled on this meme while hanging out at one of our favorite blogs, A Book and a Cupcake. So we took ourselves over to The Unread Reader to see what it was all about and join the fun. The Unread Reader features this meme on Wednesdays, but we figured moving our participation to Thursday wouldn't hurt anything. We'd love it if you'd leave a comment if you participate
in this so we can check out your book boyfriends as well.

My Book Boyfriend this week is Christian Grey from
Fifty Shades of Grey by E. L. James.

Who is my ideal Christian? Because Christian started out as Edward Cullen, and

Edward will always be Robert Pattinson for me, it just makes sense that Christian also be Robert Pattinson.

Christian's Appearance:
*unruly copper hair
*intense, bright gray eyes
*long fingers
*perfect white teeth
*overwhelming good looks
*the epitome of male beauty
*powerful and urbane

Facts about Christian:
*Christian is NOT gay.

*Christian was adopted.
*Only in his late 20s, Christian is CEO of Grey Enterprises Holdings Inc.
*He has one brother and one sister.
*While Christian prides himself on being master of his universe
, he has yet to master his own heart.

Christian Grey Quotes:
*"My belief is to achieve success in any scheme one has to make oneself master of that scheme, know it inside and out, know every detail." ~ Christian Grey

*"Oh, I exercise control in all things, Miss Steele." ~ Christian Grey

*"You sound like the ultimate consumer." ~ Ana Steele

*"I want you to willingly surrender yourself to me, in all things." ~ Christian Grey

*"He's so controlling." ~ Kate

*"I'm fifty shades of f@$%ed-up, Anastasia." ~ Christian Grey

*"Oh, Mom, his mood-swings make me dizzy." ~ Anastasia Steele

*"I've never wanted more, until I met you." ~ Christian Grey

Why he's OUR book boyfriend: (I have many friends who have taken the Master of the Universe/Fifty Shades of Grey ride with me, and to be honest, they have an uncanny way of putting my thoughts to words, so I sought out some help with putting into words why we love Christian Grey so much.)

Tevya: Christian works his way into your heart in a way that you couldn't imagine. He's sexy, wealthy, protective, and in his own way, nurturing. In some ways, he's like a child that needs to be loved, and then there's this crazy stalker controlling side. One minute you want to slap him, and the next minute you want to hold him in your arms and rock him. Christian tugs at every heart-string.

Karen: I read both [MotU and Fifty Shades of Grey] and what do I like most about Christian? I think it's his intensity about everything, how complicated he is. Of course his sexiness and the fact that he is independently wealthy ain't bad either. The red room of pain is so foreign to me but I've learned a lot about it after reading... and Christian might be the only one I would allow to dominate me like that. Lol!

Michelle: It's that feeling you get when you read it that you're the sole focus of that intensity and the want. Who doesn't want to be wanted like that? Completely and all consumingly wanted. Wowza, it gets me tingly.

Eileen: Oh man...There's a lot to love here...I love how passionate he is. He's not passionate in the typical sense, but he's SO intense and he has no problem getting what he wants. He's wicked smart and incredibly focused...be it in the board room... or bedroom;) While he projects power and his presence demands respect, he is a flawed and scarred man who is trying to deal with a traumatic past on the inside. The vulnerability that he only shows to Anna takes the edge off and makes him emotionally accessible. You want to just cuddle him all better....after he smacks your ass a bit.

***Stay tuned! Tomorrow I will be posting an interview with E. L. James!!! (Trust me - this interview won't disappoint. I had a huge smile on my face, and I giggled out loud a few times.)***

  1. My Sister a few of our friends and I have read them and we've actually fallen in LOVE(*shouty CAPS*) with him which can't be healthy because he doesn't actually exist. These books consumed us. I disagree with Rob as Christian I dont picture him like that at all but thats just my opinion. Thank you for posting this.

  2. Jessica, I'm with you. I'm a happily married (almost fourteen years!) mom of three young kids, and I LOVE Christian Grey. *Sigh* Why? Because he's the sexy, shockingly masculine, protective man-god (pure fantasy, of course, which makes him safe!) who, after having been closed off emotionally from all women, falls deeply in love with a young girl who I swear was me when I was in college: Dark haired, more beautiful than she gave herself credit for, awkward, insecure, fun, thoughtful, but very guarded when it came to men. And I was an English major, to boot (MA in literature - British literature was my favorite)!

I love the Fifty books. They're an exhilarating escape.

  3. Hoping for a movie!! I would be first in line!
Like Jessica said it's strange to have such a strong attraction for someone who doesn't exist!
