My Thoughts:
Once again, Ms. James has left me speechless and reeling. If you thought you fell in love with Christian Grey during Fifty Shades of Grey, then buckle up and get ready for the ride of your life. Emotions are high, action is packed, and suspense is thrilling in Fifty Shades Darker. Oh, did I forget to mention that it's hot, hot, hot?! While the tone of the intimacy has changed drastically as Christian and Ana work to come to terms with what they need from one another, the loving between these two will leave your windows fogged up. Grab your tissues. You will need them. Ms. James will once again bring you on roller coaster of a ride that will leave you laughing, crying... and begging for more.
The ending of Fifty Shades of Grey left most of us in tears, wondering what the future held for Christian and Ana. Surely they would get back together, right? Of course they got back together. (It is a trilogy, after all!) Not able to stay away from each other, Christian and Ana are drawn back to one another in this red-hot sequel. Unaware of the obstacles in their path, the couple sets out on a challenging road of rediscovery and compromise. Ana needs more from Christian, and he is surprised to discover that not only does he want to give her more, but he also needs that "more" that she is demanding.
As Christian and Ana work to build their relationship and their lives together, we discover along with Ana the horrifying events of Christian's childhood that brought him to the Fifty Shades he is today. Christian has to learn to trust in Ana, to open himself up to her not only physically, but emotionally as well. At the same time, Ana must learn to trust Christian not only with her body, but also with her heart and soul. Trust is hard-earned and not easily won, but it's a road they must travel.
Add in a few crazy, possessive exes and a boss with a higher agenda, and readers are perched on the edge of their seats. Two of my most favorite attributes of Fifty Shades of Grey return to lighten the mood. The banter between Ana's inner goddess and her subconscious, as well as the e-mails and texts between Christian and Ana continue to embellish the story much to the reader's delight. This is one of those books that you will be forced to finish in a matter of days because it's quite simply impossible to put this book down.
